My Welcome Post 2018

Welcome to my Year 2 Learning Blog.  This year I am in Room 9 and my teacher is Mrs Koroa.  

I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.

Adding onto five.

I am learning to keep 5 in my head and add on.  This game is called Murtle Turtle and it reminds me to count on from a number.

"We had to roll the dice and guess the number. I knew the number because I did it in my head. We were learning to do pluses." Abbie

Reading Eggs

I am learning to make the first and last sounds so I can work out the word for myself.  Reading Eggs helps to reinforce my learning.

Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself.   

"My poem looks amazing! I sounded out the words. I robot out words." Abbie

Bird pillow

For our Art Exhibition this year we learnt how to sketch a bird.  The final drawing was transferred onto calico and dye was added.  The bird was glued onto a pillow that Mrs Scott and Mrs Worsfold had sewn.  Don't they look great!

Abbie said, " I have to remember to put in the full stops and I can do good capital letters now. Most of the time I can."

I am learning my teen numbers

I am learning to count and write numerals to 20.  I am learning to say the number before and after. I am also learning to write the teen numbers correctly.

" I can count up to 20 and I know what the numbers are."  said Abbie
